Nigeria's Forgotten Elders

Nigeria's older population — over 9 million people aged 60 and above — is among the most neglected demographic in the country's social welfare landscape. With no functioning national pension system for the majority, limited access to geriatric healthcare, and rapidly weakening extended family networks, millions of elderly Nigerians face their final years in poverty, isolation, and ill health.

In conflict-affected and IDP contexts, older people face even greater vulnerability — unable to flee quickly, often separated from family, and overlooked in emergency response systems designed for younger populations.

The Grace Homes Model

Grace Homes is our vision for a uniquely Nigerian solution to elder care: integrated, intergenerational facilities where elderly residents live alongside orphaned children in a family-like environment. Elders provide wisdom, mentorship, and emotional stability to children; children provide companionship, energy, and joy to elders. The result is a community, not a facility.

In 2025, we delivered healthcare visits, nutritional support, dignity kits, and social engagement programmes to 424 elderly Nigerians across our 36-state network. Our long-term vision is to establish physical Grace Homes facilities, starting with Abuja and Ilorin.

🩺

Healthcare Access

Regular medical check-ups, medication support, and referrals to specialist care — ensuring elderly Nigerians receive the healthcare they need and deserve.

🍽️

Nutrition & Dignity Kits

Monthly food packs, personal hygiene supplies, and seasonal clothing items that restore a sense of dignity and basic wellbeing.

🤝

Social Engagement

Structured visits, intergenerational activities, and peer support groups that combat social isolation — one of the most devastating consequences of ageing without family support.

"When Grace & Grey Foundation came to our hospital, we felt seen and supported. They renovated our ward and gave hope to patients and staff alike."
— Matron, Kogi State General Hospital

Our 2026 strategic priority is to establish the first physical Grace Homes facility — a residential centre that embodies our intergenerational philosophy. We are actively seeking capital partners and institutional supporters for this flagship project.
